Standing Still

Normally I love photos in color, but lately I have found myself drawn towards black and white. I think it is something about the classic feel they have. It almost seems as if time stands still in a black and white photo. Maybe I like them so much, because I would do just about anything to make time stand still and keep Harrison this age forever. But since I can't, I will just treasure these photos instead.

Harrison and Emily looking at the farm animals at the Zoo.

Getting a closer look - notice him standing on his tippy toes.
 Worn out from the Zoo
 Looking cute like always
 Reading with Mommy
 Reading alone
 and reading naked of course!
And why not some naked walking while we are at it.
Shopping and playing at the Children's Museum
And helping Mommy get lunch ready

Pudding Picasso

A friend of mine recently used pudding as finger paint with her son, that way it would be okay if he accidently ate some of it. I decided to try the same thing with Harrison. All I can say is Thank God it was only pudding!!

I think it is evident that Harrison LOVES pudding, is not ready for REAL paint, and is a natural artist.

Here is his first Masterpiece!

BooBoo # 2

Okay, I admit we have had a few bumps and bruises in the past 14 months including...

  • Fingers smashed in drawers
  • Head bumps on the light hanging above the crib - Grandma and Mommy told Daddy it was in a bad spot.
  • A few tumbles when we were learning to sit
  • Getting knocked out of the bouncy seat onto the driveway by Bradie, who was chasing after a ball. This was by far the most dramatic event for Mommy, considering I was only a few months old. Bradie was very close to finding a new home after this one.
But of all our bumps and bruises this has to be the worst.

Harrison loves to lean over the side of his bike and reach the wheel. Well, this time he leaned over a little too far and the whole bike tumbled over. He ended up with quite the little bump on his head. Luckily he was okay, and still looked ADORABLE!

Happy Birthday to Harrison

We celebrated Harrison's first birthday on his actual birthday, Saturday, June 25th. I have seriously been planning his party for months. We decided to go with a Little Red Wagon theme.

Welcome to our party

 The desert table

Harrison's smash cake complete with red wagon topper

Homemade chocolate cupcakes in Harrison's personalized red wagon

Homemade individual strawberry shortcake - I have been saving baby food jars for months for these

Harrison's amazing birthday banner made out of cardboard - you would have never known

It wouldn't be a birthday party without some balloons

and an antique highchair complete with banner and birthday boy hat.

We had sangria for the adults. Yes... those are wagons in the punch bowl.

Our red wagon turned cooler

And lunch is served... BBQ style

Don't forget your silverware

The mantel

Harrison's monthly pics banner

Harrison's fingerprint tree painted by a dear friend. This was used as our guestbook, and now is displayed in his nursery.

And of course, the most important part of all... HARRISON himself! Can you tell he was a little excited?!?!

Harrison is LOVED by sooo many people. What a lucky little boy.

Mommy & Daddy

The Kershner Family

The Underbergs

And of course his girlfriend, Emily

Gifts and Cake anyone?!?!?!!

All in all, Harrison's party was perfect. We were so happy to celebrate our little man's big day with our closest friends and family. Harrison enjoyed himself so much that he fell asleep in grandma's arms at the very end of the party. Now time to start working on next year's party.. ha!

Watermelon Days

Considering that I ate watermelon by the bowls full while I was pregnant, I am not surprised that Harrison loves it.
Hmmm... what part taste better?

The green part...

Or... the red?

We shared with Bradie

Made a sticky mess

And loved every minute of it!

 Well.... almost every minute.

Busted Lip

Considering that Harrison is "ALL" boy, I think we did pretty good to make it this long before we got our first busted lip. This was a result of slipping while crawling. It actually bled pretty bad, but our little man was a trooper. He was quickly calmed down by looking at pictures of himself. Yes... he LOVES to look at pictures of himself - I guess he gets that from Mommy. You can't tell from the pictures, but he actually had a nice little blister the next day. Poor baby!

There must be a law against looking this cute, even with a hurt lip.

This face wasn't actually because of the hurt lip, but I found it so fitting.
